Getting Used To It

Knowing it isn’t a game doesn’t make its practice
any easier; while some’d say - ‘tisn’t real love tho
is it, but you’d have to be off the field ‘n far away
from every cognisant version of reality; you can’t
begin to imagine what life would be without love
like this focussing your being; that it doesn’t see
things your way particularly, and pay homage, is
hardly a theme defining what it’s reality means

So we agree, abiding by the space we’d created
for a mortality we placed within its grasp - surely
not a wise way ideally to begin a relationship but
the troth never fell to a drought of ‘ego-edginess’
in personalities merging, gradually embracing th’
affinity, passing that test - avoiding its impasse
