It was supposed to be news, not a play on words
designed to make statements ring controversially,
or are we being naive; that is news isn’t it - views
too uncomfortably controversial to heave into the
rubbish bin simply because you can’t believe ‘em
Okay, news to someone anyway; but we were off
on a tangent looking for reports on recent events
where veracity of sources lends that opaque clue
as to who deliberately lied; of course you’d never
guess why the actual event was never witnessed
By anybody identified - merely reported second-
hand, & as such bathed in convenient innuendo
deigned to mislead any who’d seek th’ true blue,
as if you’d need bother, th’ stench appalls all too
contemporaneously to ever be misconstrued
So we drench ourselves in a swathe of words all
too vaguely insinuating this’s news rather than a
plague of speculative attempts to fill a page with
attention-grabbing headlines about something, if
missed, that may return to brutally bite your ass
Oh, and not mention that merit’s due t’ th’ name
at bottom o’ page…
