Cyclone Debbie

The creek’s roar barely rises above a shush of the
rain - altho’ one could say that’s an ambivalence it
doesn’t pay t’ be disrespectful about, a wry sort of
compliment you might suggest - why would you; it
was dry for the best part of a year. Yes - we learnt
how to cope - and no, there’re no plans to go else
where & not simply because the road’s flooded; if
the rain’s heavy enough it does that with aplomb

So we stay indoors listening to news that most of
SE Queensland’s schools will be closed today - it
isn’t wrong to react like this - we’ve learned from
past events that flash-flood dispensed anarchy’s
th’ hardest way to maintain a pretence of order &
stability after advent of a Cyclone Debbie entree
