In a weekend where one has had 14 games of
professional rugby union t' contend with you’d
likely guess a few anomalies might appear; for
such a mixed bag of contests: games included
French Top14 matches, Aviva, Guinness Pro &
and the Championship - we’re nearing the end
of their Season, plus round 14 of Super Rugby,
that there’s room for the occasional peculiarity
And they were in evidence; players’ behaviour
idiosyncrasies haven’t disappeared, not tho its
a bugbear but the commentary crew makes an
issue of it way beyond all credibility - and then
some, while coaches’ reactions to referees are
screened as if it is all part of the contest: - but,
The greatest mess continues to be entrenched
in ways the on-field games are handled; use of
replays, & TMO ‘interpretation’ makes referees
able to avoid doing their duty, &, suffice to say,
rules interpretation seems to suffer of language
deficiency which escalates with referee origins
Last but not least the place a game’s played at
determines inherent quality linked t’ just whose
ethnicitys' in predominance - weirdly the crowd
gets its hand in that purse but, & even worse is
how scandalous the result can be - neutrality in
referee selection might be an obvious answer
Yet truth of a professional game’s its economic
success - and its there we’ll simply let it rest …
