The news of your passing came as a disconcerting
blow - we’ll struggle finding ways back to balance;
although you will no longer wear the distress - we’ll
have journeys to progress without The Jack Storer
legendary sense of humour, th’ one with which you
lighted the way using wry badinage the better with
its class temperament for repartee accomodation -
few could miss escalation of th’ quiet eruditeness
And so th’ scenery will be less our good mate Jack
but memories will remain of th’ phrase or two - and
a Novocastrian purview subtly tempered to soothe;
missing you goes without saying, but who’d speak
th’ truth of words better than you, & whom but you
was the antithesis and thesis of both satire & irony
