Yes, I hear you say, its only Sevens Rugby not
the fifteen-a-side game - but it doesn’t explain
why the standards of refereeing fail any litmus
test you’d care to suggest; perhaps there’s an
indigence nested in sponsored gear they wear
such they must pay homage or better yet, see
only definitions vested in the patronage’s view
of proper as tho that’s the idea of ‘a contest’
It’s said - once upon a time Rugby rules were
made easy to understand as the only context
needed t’ get games up & going; but this ‘fey’
notion o’ arbitration seems a realm o’ esoteric
exotica expressed as Referee’s prerogatives t’
run things their way regardless o’ ‘The Game’
If it is intended to bamboozle the players into
states of bewilderment I can agree that it did
succeed - even th’ winners were amazed yet
spectators’ feedback suggests costumes are
valued more than any action on-field, ranking
along with their ham gesticulating on live TV
