Reined And Tenured



For a while there we were reined and tenured into 
being sane and sensible; all of it contained within 
meanings we would understand by simply seeing 
points of reference beyond our usual transience 

Nothing new in that, - it’s like redesigning a vision 
as th’ utility thru which we recognise what we see, 
hence beauty becomes commonality similar to th’ 
thrift of a beholder’s faith being the eyes’ realities 

It isn’t what we’d really view of course if we knew 
other words to use in their place - so the doyen’s 
space invites short invasions of intent, which - in
a sense, equates to necessary plagiarism to gain 

an entree t’ th’ vista you’d presumed real enough 
t’ include room for you: th’ oddity came swift and 
crude, that effigy you had completely discounted 
proved to be the one-and-only caricature of you
