This morning we said fond farewells to Mervyn Lee
Rose who, at 96 & 1/2 years of age, passed away:
dearly loved by those attending to read his eulogy,
we learned he was a legend in his own lifetime - &
agreed easily; if the poignancy expressed thus set
standards best in clarity o’ such measure, it was a
remembrance that blessed his War Service and th’
decency and respect grew within his life thereafter
We felt the sadness tinged with awe, admiration &
praise deferent for the man who made homage an
act to be cherished - it wasn’t his way to demand,
he simply gave his love and favour without bias or
prejudice - asking nothing he didn’t give freely for,
or by, his selfless acts of affection & benevolence
