Oztraylia Day

And so we come to Australia Day - the public
holiday to celebrate landing in Sydney Cove
of the First Fleet; perhaps not as rinky-dink a
reason to cool a case of beer & break out the
Barbie as say, Eureka Stockade; or a host of
other historical events eventuating along the
rocky way t’ Nationhood: but be that as it is -
there’s much strength in differences viewed

the many ways we’ve counted ideas about
who we were or are, through vicissitudes of
initially being a penal colony before gaining
independence as States, amalgamating, &
through the years growing into a place we’d
see without question as home t’ everybody
