I hadn’t a clue how to describe a farce we survived
while watching Los Pumas grappling with the ‘Men
in Black’ - er that is the NZ All Blacks, in the game
played in Buenos Aires yesterday; commentary is
confused by dubiety when Referee - Jaco Peyper,
makes a serial of penalty decisions favouring Los
Pumas late in th’ second half all instigated by Line
Umpire Stuart Berry’s addled advice on who he
Sees committing sins & just where on th’ paddock,
all as if a second opinion wasn’t needed, although
the TMO, Johan Greeff, came to the party to show
his confusion wasn’t caused by being up on stage
with sweaty, over-excited players - and disabused
of commonsense he agreed with each accusation
The other Line Umpire sat on the fence - his name
was Marius van der Westhuizen - unlike his SARU
colleagues he saw the same game pretty much as
we did although he’s also SARU - which probably
explains th’ commentators confusion attempting to
understand its arrant SARU-sponsored nonsense
