They’re still the same faces
altho’ ageing’s improvised
somewhat - & tho’ it wasn’t
all that long ago there’s now
an indigent gap - yep, we’d
trekked back to the Market -
first time in nearly two years
since we bailed - and our old
friends remembered us; tho’,
whichever it was sustaining
us back then now pales into a
petulance of fragility - we didn’t
try to rediscover it, or plan on
staying long, nostalgia ran its
course as quickly as items we
sought were located, bought
and toted away; - morning’s
heat build-up had barely
begun proposing intentions
for a deferentially sultry day
with innuendo well-remembered
from no-quarter bartering back
then - we gratefully said adios to
the conscientious stalwarts of
our Old Brigade still gallantly
stationed on duty - & glibly
were on our way
