A Pumpkin’s Dilemma

Observing we’ve endured the extreme heat, and
made a journey seem almost agreeable is barely
contained: then, on seeing a pumpkin’s dilemma
with its vines splayed but no pollenating flowers
yet to lead the pumpkin parade, well, we are not
engaging in cheers; and it’s still early days altho’
Winter’s not far off, and maybe it will be a hottie,
but there’s no guarantees you will fill the loft

Yet capsicums, planted way back when, seem t’
have persisted t’ flower and finally fruit - we see
that evidence as blessings next to th’ pumpkin’s
suites, which doesn’t augur as similar parole, fey
as it probably is, they are not poles apart; or are
we merely seeing the covenant without the ark
