Origins On Display

 

Granted, it’s certainly Sunday - with sporting 

contests heading lists of what will entertain - 

and I dare say it doesn’t demean th’ rest that

Rugby takes first place - for me there’s three 

separate areas o’ what best encompasses; a 

history, with an origin that still remains intact, 

& this extends beyond the being paid to play 

deification professionalism has as adulation 

And there’s non-cameral camaraderie which 

defenestrates specious ideas of elites ruling, 

we’re all equal is th’ dictate; it goes a longer 

way to make The Game what is played - not 

iconic views juxtaposed with ‘glory’ rewards 

supposed to see sponsorship as accolades 

Then finally, there’s that ‘roots’ identification 

you share with a multitude; they don’t press 

the rave buttons - but merely express who’s 

origins are on display in th’ playing field - or 

am I seeing something too blasé t’ be icons 

we’ve worshiped f' these past two centuries
