Our friend was laid to rest in peace with grace
today - he’d suffered all th’ rabid agonies you
pray no man or beast need ever contemplate -
we know we’ll miss him dreadfully. His was th’
privileged place within our hearts, he’d lead in
magnanimity - as generous in being whom his
sense o’ self engaged, as well keeping friends
at bay with epithets he’d coin to say his piece
And please believe me, he was more’n human
to a slew of biped mates; a sense dwelt deep,
nurtured in the feelings we experienced, each
& all recall his sensitivity which went beyond a
canine coterie’s cabal of rigid dogged-ness; t’
call him ‘cobber’ really meant th’ World t' me
Yes, rest in peace my friend; and Podge, be a
symbol to th’ dreams we’ll have o’ when we’ll
meet again - I know you’re there - that energy
exists in ways which cannot ever fade away…
