Here’s me caught in a quandary only I can see
as an irony of whom I am - rather than used to
be; the choice was mine so I sat in front of TV,
where Jukebox played those 50s and 60s Hits
Woe is me; I’d intended watching replays of th’
European Rugby Challenge Cup, but yet again,
Cliff Richard sang - with Mamas and Papas, &
The Beach Boys - amongst my old favourites -
Some you’d never expect to hear at 9 am on a
Friday; well I’m Feelin’ Groovy thanks to Simon
& Garfunkel so the Rugby can wait a bit - there
will be time later t’ catch it, when my ears allow
Suffice t’ say, now isn’t back then, but th’ feel’s
very much the same where rhythm and beat, &
lyrics conspire - all transporting you away from
from the sanitised & staid, to, - Jerry Lee Lewis
Whose Great Balls Of Fire made me ‘feel good -
c’mon baby’… And now, Sandie Shaw, has me
a Puppet on a String, all while awaiting Our Day
Will Come - by Ruby & The Romantics - before
A banjo-twanged The Battle Of New Orleans &
Johhny Horton, who - ‘runs so fast the hounds
couldn’t catch ‘em’; well now I have to go; and
Santana plays Black Magic Woman, - Abraxas
Time, - the amulet of which makes me free…
