Thus, in an addict’s mien replete with all good
stuff, let’s be loquaciously effete about th’ way
SBS handles FIFA’s 2018 world cup - ok so far
anyway; its anything but repetitious agendas o’
trite cliches about boring footballs’ latter days -
we get t’ see some interesting parts of Russia,
meet local odds & sods, plus fanatical fervour-
lush fans mingling with cognoscenti-bods who
seem t’ve sprung out o’ bewilderedness into th’
mod-age - then we get t’ see games ‘avid’ with
trimmings of engaging contests, sparked by th’
supporter-commentary and frenzied behaviour;
crikey, we might be back in th’ Colosseum you
suggest - and yet - it isn’t all that too far away -
but I digress; the sanity’s in how they manage
t’ be rational & coherent - while engaging in an
oratory extravaganza based 14,000 kms away;
well, regardless, it entertains, even at 2am - or
are we indulged in fantasies we’d been wooed
into by illusions o’ how to see th’ game played
