The True Nature

(Ingham [north of Townville] flooding)

Anyway you react to it, water splashing into your
main tank bests all analogies of ‘being in sweet’;
its bees knees of comfort in knowing that altho it
hasn’t rained here for ten weeks, you’ve, at least,
part-resolved impending house-water crises, tho’
backup supplies exist. Unfortunately - they need
new fittings - not a pump taking retirement leave;
thus this morning’s efforts paid us real dividends

Of course it will rain with tropical nonchalance in
an offbeat counterpoint to th’ supposed agonies
we benignly compromised as Townsville drowns
in a surfeit of sub-tropical largesse; that too, is a
given here, where th’ best and worst come hand
in hand - seemingly, the True Nature of our Land
