Thinking back to those Ngatapa days brings me
many fond memories, I’m hoping they remain in
your recollections too; you were a rather special
sister who wrote stories, and your reading them
to brother Brian and I, when an occasion suited,
was a singular gift which, can I say freed of any
prejudice, suggested ‘Whom’ we might become
was way beyond acceptance of ordinary views
So you went off to become a School Teacher; it
was an amazing step out of a comforting closet
we’d played our many roles in, reaching for the
stars we’d yet to identify, but there you are; you
see it was your deftness for ‘dabbling’ in words
which contagiously lit these literary fires in me
Happy Birthday Faye Elizabeth
